Lazy Sunday!

To celebrate its 90th anniversary The House of Gucci unveiled its first public museum in it’s hometown Florence.

Gucci Museo is located in Piazza Signoria in the medieval Palazzo della Mercanzia. Spanning 18, 500 square-feet, the museum digs back into the brands culture rich history and exhibits a treasure trove of archived Gucci goods from iconic vintage pieces, heritage luggage and a caddilac to handbags, scarves, surfboards and red carpet dresses. A retrospective of evening gowns is also on permanent display in the ”Sera” hallway, ”Mondo Flora” shows off Gucci’s flower prints and ”Logomania” displays sports and lifestyle pieces detailing the evolution of its iconic double G logo. In addition to the permanent exhibitions rotating contemporary art installations will keep locals and visitors coming back for their dose of culture. Proceeds from the museum shop and Rizzoli curated bookstore will go to a fund that will preserve the city’s historical sites, while the attached cafe will serve fresh, locally sourced snacks and refreshments. - Jordana Longo
